A Pool Break.

If a pool table was set up in the exact same way over a series of times and the exact same power was applied to the cue, would the resulting break always be the same? If not why?

If you assume a [spherical cow](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spherical_cow), then yes.

In the real world, it is impossible to get exactly the same rack more than once. There are too many small variables that end up having big impacts on the outcome due to the chaotic nature of a break. It’s not just the exact position of the balls, but the lay of the felt on the table, the texture of the tip of the cue, all sorts of things.

With an automated rack and shoot system that had tight margins, you could probably get pretty similar from break to break, but it won’t be exactly the same.
