Inpatient psychiatric care, even if they do nothing but keep you in a room for 72 hours, and ambulance rides, no matter if its around the corner, costs astronomical amounts, and almost all of it is profit for the execs and shareholders in the healthcare industry. The American thing to do is blame this on the victims rather than wondering which greedy, sociopathic piece of shit set the prices for this stuff (hint: for-profit healthcare+predatory insurance companies)
