– Accidentally came across creepy images

474 viewsOther

Hello. I was looking for momos recipe so i searched up “momo” on google. when i went to the images tab, a lot of creepy images came up. The images had a woman with black hair, a creepy smile and had legs that look like a bird’s legs (i think?). I immediately closed the app because i got jumpscared. Does anyone know what those images were? I just wanted to make momos and now i feel weird.

Oh I love that sculpture! Her proper name is Mother Bird. She’s based on Japanese folklore about mothers who lose their children becoming bird monsters called ubume from grief, and she was created for a horror art show in 2016. Keisuke Aiso, the artist who made her, worked for a special effects company called Link Factory at the time (I don’t know if he still does). Mother Bird’s job is to show off to movie directors – look at this spooky-ass monster we made! Don’t you want us to build props for your next horror film? And she really punches you in the eyeballs and inspired a whole viral hoax in the USA in 2019 so I’d say she’s pretty effective. Alas, she doesn’t exist anymore. She was created for a temporary exhibit and after a while the materials started to degrade and eventually Keisuke Aiso just threw her out. When there was the whole kerfuffle about “Momo’s curse” and stuff, Keisuke Aiso explained that the statue had been destroyed and stated “the children can be reassured Momo is dead – she doesn’t exist and the curse is gone.”
