Adhesion and cohesion

97 viewsEngineeringOther

PS: I am studying to be an enginner, but i’m not sure if the tag “engineering” or “physics” or “chemistry” is best for this, so I’ll keep it engineering

I’ve started studying pneumatics and hydraulics, we have a whole lession about cohesion and adhesion.

Now I understand *what* happens with adhesion and cohesion, but I do not understand *why*. And for me, if I want the knowledge to stick I really need to know why, otherwise I’ll forget it in 3 days.

I’ve tried looking for it on reddit and some research studies, but most cover the “what happens” aspect and not “why”.

If anyone could forward me to some explanations/papers that I can read on the cause, would be greatly appreciated.
