Affect vs Effect

Please. I have looked it up on Google multiple times and still cannot figure it out. Please help and use both in a five year old sentence!

I think of affect as reactive and effect as proactive so when I come upon the word I start sounding out Affected or Effective with really harsh syllables and I haven’t had any complaints about usage.

I will also use the sentences “I have been affected,” Or “That was effective,” to help me choose between the two.
