After radiation exposure, what exactly happens during skin necrosi?

I understand Necrosis is the pattern of cell death, so what exactly is happening to the cell as it’s dying. What is happening to the muscle, the ligaments or the skin as this progresses?

The radiation damages the DNA so much that the cell undergoes apoptosis. The cells and therefore the tissues basically rot.
