Carbon is pretty unique in how versatile it is. Almost nothing else can bond with so many things in so many ways. Plus, it’s a solid in earth temperature which is probably helpful (not sure though)
And we’ve pretty much discovered every possible element at this point, save for weird isotopes of really heavy elements that would be too rare to form life anyway.
If you consider robots a life form though, then they could be built with a lot of things
