Asexuality

How does asexuality work? Do asexuals have no sexual interest? Do they get horny but just don’t want to engage in coitus? Do they still feel romantic attraction, just not sexual attraction? Are asexuals only interested in themselves?

Sexual attraction and libido are different things.

When you get horny from looking at someone, you are sexually attracted to them.

When you want to have sex and get horny, you have a libido.

You can have a libido, enjoy having sex and do it a lot, but that doesn’t mean you get horny BECAUSE of the person. There are plenty of asexuals who have sex, others who are neutral about it and others who are sex-averse and don’t want to have sex at all. Or those who are simply not interested. They are all asexual, they just have different libidos.

Asexuality is also a spectrum, we usually call that ace-spec. Examples: You have demi-sexuality, meaning someone doesn’t experience sexual attraction unless a strong emotional bond is formed. Or gray-sexuality, meaning someone only experiences sexual attraction under specific circumstances. Then ofc asexual, not experiencing sexual attraction at all.
