Backbox to a conduit

Please eli5 what a backbox is to a conduit. Any sort of conduit, electrical, communications, etc. I googled it and I’m still confused lol. Thanks in advance and please be nice.

Conduit is a thin tube, great for wires, but no space for mounting goodies. You can mount stuff on top of a junction box, lights are often done this way, but that’s not very secure. A backbox replaces the cover of a junction box with another box in which you can mount a sunset sensor or security camera much more securely.
