Calories aside, why is some food unhealthy?

I understand that calories control weight gain/loss, but why are some foods unhealthy? If you are healthy, work out, and have no deficiencies, why shouldn’t you eat loads of chocolate, soft drinks etc? Doesn’t everything we eat break down into the same stuff?

There can be many reasons. Keeping this very basic foods can be unhealth as they just lack in nutritional value meaning eating them doesn’t give your body anything it really needs besides the pleasure of eating it. Other reasons can be it effects your blood sugar possibly causing problems it can also effect your ldl and hdl cholesterol levels.
