can compound chemicals be broken down?

Like, if you look at the back of a shampoo bottle or something, there’s always a ridiculously long name for an ingredient. Are these sorts of ingredients able to be broken down into elements? Kind of like how dihydrogen monoxide is just the chemical name for water.

If your question is if each of those ingredients is composed of the same set of elements from the periodic table, then yes.

Don’t buy into the fear-mongering going around about long chemical names. Chemistry just has a complicated/detailed nomenclature system, but the only ones who should be afraid of it are students trying to learn it.
