Words like DVD rip and Blu-ray do not determine resolution. They are phrases used to identify the medium on which the video is stored. DVD rip means that the file was initially on a DVD, in a chapter format. The rip takes all of the individual files and converts them into a singular file type, usually something like AVI, mpeg, DivX, or something like that.

FPS is a reference to the number of frames per second in the video. The higher the frame rate, the smoother the image looks, because there are more individual frames. The more frames, the less stutter in the movement of the video.

The higher the number, the better the resolution. 1080p is better than 720p. 720p is better than 480p. The number value represents the number of lines of pixels in the image. Like with frame rate, the more lines you have, the less judder in your image. The current standard cap for broadcasts is 1080p. There are individual specialty channels that broadcast in 4K, which is 4x the pixel lines of 1080p, but is mainly only available on specific streaming services, or if you buy a Blu-ray disc copy of the film.

I hope this helps. If I didn’t cover something, just ask
