Can vaccines cause symptoms/complaints different from the corresponding disease? If so, how?

I was in the army a while back. Annual flu shots were mandatory. I thought for decades those shots gave me a mild case of flu.

They did not.

Some supposed disease symptoms aren’t symptoms of disease at all. They are symptoms of your body ramping up to fight disease. Those flu symptoms I got were my body going into must make antibodies mode.

Why do 200 different cold viruses all have the same symptoms? They don’t. Those symptoms all come from your body’s disease fighting strategy.

Side effects from additives in the vaccines. Pandemrix, for instance, (vaccine against swine flue) had an increased chance for narcolepsy, although to my knowledge they don’t know *exactly* what it was in the vaccine that caused it. Newer “better” vaccines did not have the same problem.
