I’d consider myself exactly that. I’m in a humanitarian group that helps the homeless and does book drives and such, I’m all about helping everyone get access to everything,.. but I don’t want to go meet new people or socialize,.. prefer to be left alone in my cave.

Yes.

Humanism is about trying to build a better society, where individuals are treated with respect and dignity and given universal rights.

Misanthropy is about realizing most people suck, and you don’t want to be around them. They’ll fail to live up to your ideals, and mistreat each other given the chance.

There’s nothing inherently contradictory about the two mindsets.

Misanthropic humanists are definitely a thing.

It’s certainly possible; I’ve been doing it for years.

*Humans* are frequently horrible, but one must believe in the ability of *humanity* to make positive strides; any other line of thinking is counterproductive.
