Cosmetic prosthesis—why do you have to have a degree in prosthetics to create “skins” for prosthetics? Or do you?

I really want to create photo realistic covers for prosthetic appendages, especially now that many people are printing their own parts.

I asked several c I panties that manufacture prosthetic limbs and digits, and they just point in the direction of schooling for the actual creation of prosthetics, which I totally understand why that would need some serious education. But something that goes over the actual device?

Why?

This is likely due to legal liability reasons. They won’t suggest you do anything that isn’t conforming to the high prosthetic standards they follow, as if someone gets harmed by your dodgy cover they don’t want to be pulled into your lawsuit.

That said you are best off just asking for the specific outside dimensions of their prosthetics and figuring out yourself how to make skin-safe silicone sculpts.
