Could humans create food pellets containing all needed nutrition similar to what we feed pets?

I mean a well designed sustenance sludge would be a vast improvement over being left to our own devices with a bucket of sugar and a drive thru rewards card. Even if we “cheated” on the sludge.
I think the biggest obstacle is people are terrified of food they don’t understand. No matter how much safer it is. No matter how much less bulk it has. No matter how proven the data is.
It is fun to think about how it would upend the service economy though.
