Tears are realeased from “ducts” or little tubes attached to a sac. Emotions help to regulate our behaviors and memories. Tears are not only released by emotion or pain, they are continuously being produced to help protect the eyes.

Chemicals in the body help turn on and off certain functions. These chemicals are used for a multitude of different [reasons.so](https://reasons.so) one chemical may have LOTS of different effects in the body.

Also, the body has two main modes, Fight and flight or rest and digest. Generally, the body is in one mode or the other so when emotions begin regulating the body, the chemicals turns on half of ALLLLLL the ducts in your body not just a specific one. So, the same chemicals in the brain that are causing sadness and pain are causing a chain reaction in the body to make the ducts produce more of anything they produce. Getting really sad is going to turn off half of all the ducts in your body and turn the other half on.
