Like how do we know about certain historical events in the past? How do we know about everything in history and how can we be sure all of that actually happened? Like how can we be sure the Roman Empire actually existed and how big it was,etc.How do we know about tragedies and events that happened in the ancient era? Who tf understands ancient Egyptian? And did someone just discover Ancient Greek ruins and be like “Yo Ancient Greece existed I have to tell this to my people” and did people during the Medieval times know history and about Ancient Greeks and Romans and Egyptians??

Simply put, everything the average person knew was framed through religion.
So, yes, they knew about antiquity because that’s when Christ was around.
But they didn’t have a complete picture of it.
