Like how do we know about certain historical events in the past? How do we know about everything in history and how can we be sure all of that actually happened? Like how can we be sure the Roman Empire actually existed and how big it was, etc. How do we know about tragedies and events that happened in the ancient era? Who tf understands ancient Egyptian? And did someone just discover Ancient Greek ruins and be like “Yo Ancient Greece existed I have to tell this to my people” and did people during the Medieval times know history and about Ancient Greeks and Romans and Egyptians??

Well, “sure” is a matter of degree.

Scholars can read ancient languages, in fact there are [textbooks for Egyptian hieroglyphics](https://smile.amazon.com/Egyptian-Hieroglyphics-Read-Write-Them/dp/0486260135 ). We can read events, and then try to match those events to celestial events like comets for which the exact timing can be calculated through physics.

History is a rich and complex field of study and we’ve been serious about it for thousands of years.
