Difference between Offer capacity of 100MW and 100000 MWH energy output

I got a energy generation question.

if a plant has an Energy output of 100,000MWh what does it mean if it has an Offer Capacity of 100MW?

seeing it in a case study and was confused.

I am not sure what offer capacity is when i know that 100,000MWH is the output and something like a powerplant of 100MW would produce 100MWh not 100,000MWh

This is a little complicated because they are using two different units of measurement.

100,000 MWh is a measure of energy that means 100,000 Megawatts of power delivered over one hour, or 1 MW delivered over 100,000 hours, or any other combination of MW and h that multiply to 100,000. A Capacity of 100 MW means that the power plant’s highest level of Power generation is 100 Megawatts. If that plant runs at full capacity for one hour, it will have produced 100 MWh of energy. If it runs at full capacity for 1000 hours, it will have produced 100,000 MWh of Energy.

For capacity, 100MW is the max load of the plant at any given time.

The energy output is referring to the amount of MWh over a certain time frame. E.g. if you could run a 100 MW plant 24/7 for a year it will have 100 x 8760= 876000MWh of output over a year.

They may be using a different time frame in order to get 100,000MWh output with a 100MW plant.

Also, a plant likely isn’t going to be producing 100% output 24/7 due to planned and forced outages and operating below max load and such so that will reduce the total MWh output too.

Well, for a start, MWH and MW are measuring different things. A Megawatt-HOUR is a measure of energy: you can, in principle, put so many MWH into a (big) battery and sell it to someone for them to use until it runs out.
A Megawatt is a measure of POWER, how fast energy can be generated/transferred/used.

I may be wrong, but to denote a power-station as so many Megawatt-Hours makes no sense, unless you’re referring to the amount of energy it’s expected to provide over its lifetime.
