They perceive time slower than us. A study showed a fly can see 400 separate flashes of light in a second while humans can only observe 100 flashes in a second.

This means their entire world is slower than ours.

So it takes so long for us humans to react because of our reaction time. Why our reaction time is so high is partly due to the fact our brains have many distant parts that are communicating to them. It takes time for our nerves to send signals up to our brain, especially if it’s our feet, or something far like that. However, with small bugs they do not need to worry much about a long distance such as 5 to 6 feet a signal has to travel through nerves (like us with our feet). Instead, it’s very small, and they are hard wired with reflexes instead of thinking for every decision. Therefore their reaction times are much higher as there is less input time.

They actually do perceive time different. They run much ‘faster’ there is even a unit of measurement for it, but I can’t remember it. It’s a 3 letter acronym.

We move in ultra slow-mo compared to a house fly. They also die much faster (obviously)

It is because their brain is simple and there is only a little bit of processing resource for each animal in the simulation. Our brain is complex, so it runs slower. Simple as that. /s
