Do gorillas count? What about chimpanzees?

Basically anything resembling our leg structure will have a “butt cheek.”

You’ve probably seen a cow or horse at some point in your life for example.

We have big butts because walking upright on two legs requires bigger muscles around that area, and more fat to protect those muscles.

No other animal walks upright on two legs- except birds, which also have strong leg muscles. Your butt is your gluteus maximus, the largest muscle in your body and the one that propels you forward with each step. It needs to be big and strong, and big strong muscles like to hide under a layer of fat to protect themselves.
