Why do we need to changes our oil base on range and time? Does the oil rot and if not why is there a date to change it?
Bonus question: is synthetic oil have an espiration date?

The reason there was always a time and mileage recommendations is short trips degrade oil too. If you drive 1 mi every day for 3 months, the oil is done but youve only driven 90mil
If you put fresh synthetic in and park the car, it will last a long time.
