Pretty much any sugar can do that. As can any food in excess. Insulin is a fat storing hormone and spikes more with carb intake. Fructose can lead to fatty liver as well. But a lot depends on the overall diet, activity, etc.

There is no fructose in cane sugar. Cane sugar is extremely pure sucrose.

(Yes, sucrose is a disaccharide linking one glucose and one fructose. The fructose isn’t free, it’s chemically bound.)
