Electric Transmission Line questions

Hi there. Hope someone can answer tis. I am considering buying a piece of property out in the Oregon desert that is crossed by the Celilo-to-Sylmar HVDC line. I’m kind of nerdy in that i think this is cool, and it lowers the price per acre quite a bit (visual blight!). Having lived around 500kv AC transmission lines in the past, i know they hum quite audibly , but to my knowledge that 60hz hum is the nature of alternating current in the USA. My question is; will the 3 gigawatt DC (Direct current) transmission line have any similar noise? To my knowledge this is the only HVDC transmission line in the US, i have no experience with what it might sound like or if it would have corona discharge, or other electrical phenomena usually associated with large AC lines? I am autistic – i can hear incandescent light bulbs. 🙂

The DC part of it won’t have any hum, but there may be some ripple on the line that would be audible. It would still be considerably quieter than an AC transmission line carrying the same amount of power. It would also be higher frequency, likely 360hz, because it would be rectified from three phase AC.
