Cause you need energy to produce the vehicles in the first place, the vehicles need to be available to the public (the chain seems like those wouldn’t be sought after), other commodities are expensive too such as Nickel and aluminium AND because of the costs associated with changing a vehicle (it’s not something people do at the first sign of high gas prices, it has to be sustained and the other vehicles need to be cheaper).
