GUI – Graphical User Interface – user interacts with software via the keyboard and mouse

CLI – Command Line Interface – user interacts with software via keyboard

API – Application Programming Interface – Software A interacts with Software B

APIs allow different programs to interact with each other

You can integrate two or more pieces of software in dozens of different ways. An API is just one of them. There are no “normal” integrations.
