Why does the price change so much between store for unsalted Almonds by exemple. Can nuts be cheap and unhealthy or is it only a business matter?

Yes there can be cheap nuts. But the price difference is usually caused by wholesalers who are mostly responsible for food price inflation.

An almond is an almond is an almond. What changes is quality (which can be big or meaningless differences, like every other farmed food) and marketing.

Not all nuts are created equal. Some have better nutritional profiles for people. [Video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJpitVC4mzs) (many hours long), “Nuts as a Staple Food”. Tl;Dw, Hazelnuts are ideal. Both for ease in the production process (cost), and nutritionally.

50% of my calories come from nuts. I put them in smoothies. Buy them from Costco in bags, or search the internet for a bulk supplier. Hazelnuts are easier to de-shell than others like walnuts, reducing their cost in theory.
