eli5 Bubbles inside water bottle

174 viewsChemistryOther

I have a bottle of water made of glass and I put water (commercial water that comes in plastic bottles not tap water) and after some hours I saw there’s many bubbles. If it’s sealed, why are the bubbles there? maybe it’s not fully sealed? should I get another bottle that has a better seal? I have pressed the tap hard enough that I thought it was sealed. The bubbles do not form on the original plastic bottle even after opening it and clossing it again.

Water has some air dissolved in it.  The pressure of the dissolved air will balance with the pressure of the atmosphere.  As there are changes in the temperature and pressure, air will leave the water or dissolve to restore the balance. Sometimes the air leaving will form bubbles.
