eli5 buying a used car vs electric car

how long does it take an electric car to write off a used ( already depreciated)gas( not diesel) with its lithium batteries and material? is it really more environment friendly in long term or unless the production industry go green it is more like a hype rather than a real impact regarding all production cycle? in short, are electric cars really as green as we think?

I live in Norway, as of now it is still subsidized for people/firms to buy it in other words low taxes ( 1st time registration of a new car in Norway is high).

If it was me, who drive 40minutes to/from work, I would save 350💲 a month in fuel(diesel) costs a month. Toll booth prices are halv, and kWh price for charging car from the house is like 10 cents VS 1.6 dollar per LITER.

If a City like LA had gotten a huge percentage of Electric cars, the polluted air would disappear, that is a local global warming measure effect.

And as a way of delivering this power, you could case trumps coal plants, convert them to gas power plants with gas from the Oil industry. Almost clean energy, from something you would get up from the ground anyways to deliver other fossil fuels.

Elon musk has alot of speeches on recycling old batteries, building low energy cost warehouses and industry plants.

The only cost you would have outside warranty time of the vehicle would be Electric powerplant faulties. E.g Nissan Leaf has only had 5 faulty battery packages in its models lifetime.

In winters time it heats up faster, and newer Electric has timing setup so the car is preheated when uou get in and go.

Im thinking of buying a used Leaf next year, that would save me monthly costs, with a battery range capacity of minimum 200 miles, which would get me to/from work 5 times w/o charging.
