Mouthwash usually has the opposite effect immediately, the mint and alcohol mask sweet and make things like orange juice taste bitter and tart.
Maybe your brain is trying to undo this effect
You mean your *mouth* tastes sweet. Anything you put *in* your mouth will taste bitter by comparison. It’s just that mouthwash is overwhelmingly sweet. If that lasts a long time it’s due to artificial sweeteners like sucralose or aspartame (not sure which are common in mouthwash) that coat the mouth.
