eli5: Dejavu feeling

What exactly makes Dejavu feeling? I know that has to do with your brain hemispheres and something about delayed interactions between them. What causes that feel, that this happened before and why does it feel this way?

Obviously it because there was a change in the matrix.

But in reality, part of it is your brain is very good at seeing patterns. You realize a lot of things subconsciously, that you don’t realize on the surface. If something happens a few time or two and then happens again, your brain recognizes that as a pattern. When it happens again, you brain can recognize it as a previous pattern even if you don’t fully remember it happening consciously

You can think about things you’re looking at now, or things that happened in the past (memories). You generally can tell the difference, but occasionally you misinterpret information that is coming from “now” as a memory.
