Eli5: each time I run one km, my GPS connected watch vibrates. Which made me wonder: how is the vibration in connected watches, smartphones and others enjoyable items created?

You know the roundabouts they have at the park? Where you can jump on and the other kids can push you round?

Well imagine a load of kids all jump on to one side, and as the roundabout spins it doesn’t work quite right any more and creaks and wobbles a bit as the other kids push it round.

In a smart watch there’s one of these but it’s really tiny. That wobbling of the roundabout is felt as a vibration.
