Every company producing batteries and/or researching battery tech that I have read about have stated new battery tech such as sodium ion or solid state batteries are at least ten years off from full scale production because of current demand for lithium ion batteries keeping current production facilities as they are meaning new facilities for new battery designs need to be built along side the current lithium facilities so production does not get disrupted all of this will not happen till the battery design and tech is finalized all of this means affordable EVs with fast charging and long range are a decade away at best.
