(eli5) How are fat peoples’ clothing the same price as a normal persons, with it having more material?

In the US, at least, ‘fat’ is normal. Thinner people could be thought of as paying a premium for buying a less-purchased (and therefore less-produced) size.
But really I think it’s about cloth not costing much in the production process.
