ELi5: How Can It be 70F one day and 35F the next in the middle of winter

I live in the South US, What’s happening that it’s 30F on Monday but Tuesday it’s 70F again.

Warm air mass moves in and cloud cover partially insulates the ground against heat loss. The next day, cold dry air from the north and a clear night-time sky loses a lot of heat.

What state specifically? I can look up an advection map and see what caused the exact event
