What i am asking is (human) baby more sleep is required (more than 12-14 hours) for there healthy growth then why it is said that adults should not sleep more (not more than 8 hours with a rem sleep)? What is the science behind this if baby sleeping more is healthy than adult sleeping the same should be result the same, no?

Babies are small and need to get bigger. A lot of energy in adults is spent on being awake and preforming daily tasks, almost all of the energy that a baby spends, it spends on growing physically. While asleep your body grows faster than while awake, since the goal of ‘growing up’ is to get to adulthood as soon as possible to be able to fend for yourself and survive, the babies try to grow as much as possible by sleeping as much as possible (I think)

Their brains aren’t fully developed yet and for this reason they are unable to stay awake for long. They also need a lot of sleep to integrate all the new experiences they have (since everything is new to them), since, according to the synaptic homeostasis theory, sleep is the price we pay for the ability to learn things.
