eli5: How did the people on islands like sentinel island get there? And how have they survived for so long?

North Sentinel Island is maybe not the best example as it is very close to other islands.
Better examples would be the pacific island peoples who spread out to or visited most of the islands across the pacific ocean (which is the world’s largest ocean). It is even thought that the pacific island people were the first to visit the Americas by boat as the first people to colonise the Americas likely arrived there via land bridge that once extended from Russia to Alaska and then worked their way south.
