eli5: How do drug addicts prevent starvation?

If all a drug addict does is sit around being high *for days* how don’t they die from dehydration or starvation. Does heroin suppress the bodies’ desire for water and nourishment?

Just because you’re a drug addict doesn’t mean you don’t eat. There are plenty of fat drug addicts. You’re talking about someone, who is near the end and is probably going to die, if they don’t seek help.
