Everything expands when you are gaining weight, not always noticeable but yeah feet def do. When you lose weight you can go down several shoe sizes

Exercise doesn’t determine where you store fat. You cannot spot-reduce fat by working out. So even if you get muscular calves, they will be covered by a layer of fat

My doc told me “fat finds a home” when it runs out of room in the normal areas. That’s why some people eventually end up with pudgy fingers or even forehead fat.

I’m not nearly even close to that level of obease but I have a layer of fat over my otherwise extremely strong calves.

Easy. Walk and burn 1000 extra calories, get fast food and eat 2000 excess calories. Don’t keep track of either, and blame genetics.

It depends on how your body stores fat. Some people gain fat in certain areas and others gain it all over. Me personally, I’ve gained mainly in my abdomen, hips, butt, thighs, upper arms, and some in my face. The gain in my hands, feet, forearms, and calves has been minimal.

A few things at play here.

1. Overweight people can develop large calf muscles from walking with the extra weight.
2. Overweight people can have poor circulation, so fluid build up in their feet and calves
3. Exercise doesn’t burn fat near the muscles used. It’s more of a last in, first out idea.

Spot reducing fat does not exist, which means you can’t target where you lose fat depending on what muscle you’re contracting, some people still don’t get this even in the fitness industry. Where your day is stored is all genetics, I’m lucky my fat just refuses to go into my stomach

A fat persons calves might also look extra fat because there will be a big muscle underneath the fat that adds to the volume, since you have to be fairly lean to have defined calves

Calves are also like 80% genetic. Plenty of larger people walking around with chicken legs.
