How/why does the bacteria stay in one place? I do know that septicemia can happen. Is it just certain infections or will all untreated infections eventually becomes sepsis?

All infections will kill you if your immune system doesn’t kill them first.

People with compromised immune systems (patients on chemo, immune suppressants, or hiv) often struggle with the common cold. It can be deadly to those who don’t have the ability to produce antibodies for it.

Fun fact: Viral infections don’t respond to antibiotics at all. The only way to kill a virus is through sterilization, starvation, or your immune system hunting and destroying it. Viruses don’t even meet the standard definition of life.
