Well that depends… how much gold and how badly do they want it.

Because companies dig under cities all the time. How else do you think sewer systems and subways get built/repaired/extended? So assuming a company could secure the rights to pull the gold out, the technology exists to pull the gold out.

There would be numerous considerations, and it may not be possible to get it all safely which means they won’t get it all. But if there is enough there, we’ll figure it out.
