I motherboard is like a tiny simple computer that can’t really do much extensive computing.

But you plug everything into it, like a CPU or a hard drive, maybe some ram chips and a keyboard.

It talks to all the components and makes them communicate together.

The motherboard is kind of (not really) like a receptionist that answers the phone. It can direct your (a components) call to another department or pass along information.
