Eli5: How do oceans exist? Specifically, how was water able to build up like that on earth without evaporating? 195 viewsJanuary 1, 2024 Question98.70K June 8, 2023 0 Comments I don’t know anything about the formation of large bodies of water, so here I am. In: 3 2 Answers ActiveNewestOldest Anonymous Posted June 8, 2023 0 Comments There is a shit ton of water, and that water settles at the lowest points possible. Because, like, gravity. The topography of the land dictates where the oceans will be, it’s not like a little puddle forms somewhere randomly and turns into an ocean. Anonymous Posted June 8, 2023 0 Comments The air can only hold so much water vapor before it condenses and falls as rain. Even if the air was constantly at 100% capacity, there would still be way more water than that. It has to go somewhere. Register or Login
