Eli5 how do some headphones know the dB to the sound your listening to?

My sony headphones can tell me how loud my music is playing at and I’m wondering how they manage to do that and how accurate it really is. Explanations are appreciated.

Only works if there is a little db meter on the inside of the headphones or the software knows the exact specs of all hardware used.
