The most common cause of voice cracks is puberty, because that’s when the most changes in size, thickness, and shape of Vocal chords happen. The changes can destabilize your vocal chords when you speak, resulting in a crack or squeak.
Another common cause is overuse, or pushing your voice to the high or low ranges. These sudden changes in vibration and can cause your vocal chords to tighten, or shrink too quickly, which can destabilize your vocal chords.
