I’ve always had this question in my mind, how can we fill our mouth with a lot of water and it just stays there? Why doesn’t it go down our throat instantly?

The tongue and soft palate are capable of movement and can form a seal at the back of the throat preventing fluid or air passing them. Normal humans will have both of these things and can easily feel what they are doing when they drink.

When building your human disguise be sure to include the little dangly thing called the uvula. It aids in swallowing and speaking, but is not prehensile (a common error by novice alien infiltrators).
