Eli5 : How do wheels push a car forward ?

I know that a motor, through transmission, make wheels turn. But.. How do wheels “drive” a whole car (or anything with wheels and a motor) ? Where do the force apply to make this ton of steel move?

The motor creates a torque in the axle that the wheel and tire are attached to. The tire tries to turn. There is friction between the tire and the road that prevents the tire from slipping in place. So, when the tire pushes backwards on the road, the road pushes forward on the tire just as hard. The entire vehicle then moves forward.
