Cochlear implant works by surgically implanting a device inside your skull that stimulates your auditory nerve. It is then connected to and powered wirelessly by a hearing aid sort of device that sits outside your skull.
Tldr it’s a hearing aid that connects to your auditory nerve and not your ear.
