There’s a propeller in the back of the watercraft. The prop is inside a tube. Water is sucked in trough a channel on the belly by the prop and then pushed out the back of the prop, through a tube that moves side to side and is controlled by the handlebars.

There’s a water intake on the bottom of the jetski that pulls water into a pump. The pump throws the water backwards to move the jet ski forwards.

As the name implies a jet ski is powered by a jet

The motor turns an impeller inside of a tube similar to a jet engine.

There is an intake underneath the craft, and water is sucked in by the impeller and shot out the back creating thrust
